The Action Day
An educational initiative for schools in Austria and South Tyrol The action day School Visits the Museum is an initiative of the Universalmuseum Joanneum. On this day, museums throughout Austria bring art, culture, and nature to life and promote the enriching cooperation between schools and museums. This nationwide initiative has existed for over 15 years. This year, the Silent Night Museum in the Pflegerschlössl is taking part for the first time!

We warmly invite teachers and their classes to experience an exciting and varied visit – an experience that will be remembered positively.

The Programme
We invite classes to discover together the life and work of the poet Joseph Mohr (1792–1848), who spent the last eleven years of his life as a vicar in Wagrain. Students will also learn more about the global spread and significance of the world-famous Christmas carol Silent Night! Holy Night! After a short introduction by our trained cultural mediators, age-appropriate materials with information and questions will guide the students through the exhibition areas.

Note
The educational programme can be booked throughout the year. The material itself is free of charge; only the admission fee applies (accompanying persons free of charge).
